Boston’s R&B ensemble Miss Fairchild is joyfully committed to The Show; spectacle, musicianship, awe, and entertainment. Performing in the grand tradition of the Motown/Stax innovators of the 60’s, and the glittery Pop-Funk icons of each succeeding decade, MF exists among a new tier of R&B showmanship. Channeling both the urban ferocity of The Dap Kings as well as the slick live acts of Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars, they tilt their fedoras to the past, while dancing in tandem with the contemporary.

FANDANGO is as much a spiritual renewal as it is a reinterpretation of some of the best soul, blues, gospel, and Americana music ever written. Tonight is the TOAD debut of this great new band out of Brooklyn NY! Youth Moose is made up of three humans not in any way affiliated with moose or moose culture. They do not hunt moose. Instead, they are three wild spirits who love to make music. Some people say that Youth Moose sounds like the B52’s, others that they make children’s music for adults. You decide. One thing for sure: you’ll love these people, and you’ll love the music they make.
You could make a whole day of it because TOAD opens at 3pm on Sundays for Sunday Spins which is TOAD’s weekly open mic for your vinyl collection. Every Sunday from 3 to 7 bring your vinyl to TOAD and sign up to play your favorite songs (3 songs per person).
Bring a record, grab a beer, and stick around for Youth Moose! Keep your strength by having a TOAD burger, too! (All natural beef burger with melted cheddar, pickles, crispy onions, chopped lettuce & special sauce on an onion roll)

“I am AVA: a Montana-grown musician whose original songs blend indie, jazz, and RnB influences into folk roots. My music is directly reflective of my life as a young woman in the era of late capitalist, mass-mediated North America. Themes of greed, power, (dis)connection, love, and loss permeate my playing style for a unique, contemporary sound . . . I believe that my life’s work is to harness the transformative capacity of the stage. Now more than ever, I am leveraging my songwriting to join the voices of many trying to capture, assess, and re-envision life on earth.”

City of Four performs an original brand of instrumental music, influenced by jazz, funk, fusion, pop/rock, hip hop, and other genres.
The band has received an “Outstanding Performance” recognition from DownBeat Magazine as a Blues/Pop/Rock group, and some of the band members’ original compositions and tracks have been recognized by national entities, like ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) and MIX Magazine.
The quartet performs throughout the Boston area, and is currently in residence with Classic Harbor Line aboard the Motor Yacht Northern Lights for bi-monthly funk cruises on Boston Harbor.
This is original music—make no mistake—but if A Different Engine made a mix-tape for our own party, it would likely include songs by Husker Du, Big Star, the Posies, The Clash, Teenage Fanclub, Sonic Youth, Pavement, Superchunk, Dinosaur Jr, Guided By Voices, the Hold Steady, Nada Surf, Beach Slang, Built to Spill, the Lemonheads, and your own favorite band. And it would be a phenomenal party.

Peter Wolf (formerly of the J Geils Band), whose brilliant Midnight Souvenirs—released in 2010—included David Johnston’s “I Don’t Wanna Know.” This song went on to become the second single from that album, and was performed on the David Letterman Show in June of 2010.
