Boston-based African style band AIR CONGO play music from the 1960’s-70’s Kinshasa/Brazzaville scene–the music of Docteur Nico, Tabu Ley, Les Bantous De La Capitale, Franco et l’Orch TPOK Jazz, and more! – We’ve been lucky to have them play a bunch of later shows this year at TOAD –
Taking the stage earlier tonight is Air Congo member, Nathaniel Braddock
Nathaniel is also the leader of the internationally touring Occidental Brothers Dance Band Int’l and a ten-year faculty member of Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music. He has performed extensively with African artists from Mali, Ghana, Zambia, and Congo, and with many American and Australian indie rock bands. His instrumental solo guitar and mandolin sets feature the crossroads of African roots music and American primitive guitar, with original compositions that extend into modern harmonies and rhythms with the complexity of chamber music
